Brick Arches & Lintels
The Fab-Lite range of Lightweight Brick Arches and Lintels includes our unique Lightweight Arches as well a range of flexible Structural Concrete Arches.
The customers' requirements for forming arches vary considerably and therefore so do our solutions. The traditional brick arch built on site is a time consuming and difficult task taken on only by experienced tradesman.
We ensure that the finished design and quality of a building isn't compromised by ensuring in addition to the option of providing the cutting service to create arches, we also give a wide range of prefabricated products that ensures the client receives a quality controlled product.
Brick arches can be preformed onto lightweight non structural backing or alternatively formed as part of the structural element of the building.
This can be done using a number of methods including prefabrication onto concrete lintels with bricks returned onto the soffit by bonding using epoxy resins specifically designed for this application, or by pre-casting the bricks into the concrete with a positive key between the two materials.
We also manufacture other solutions including steel backed structural lintels, a super-lite solution and even a retro-fit option, so please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
When an Architect wishes to have an exposed brick soffit either above doorways or windows, the brick needs to be either supported using a masonry support system or be pre-formed onto a lintel.
Our experience shows a preformed solution offers our customers a far easier and more cost effective solution.
The pre-cast brick faced concrete solution has been extremely popular with our customers in overcoming the problem of supporting masonry with exposed soffits.
We have also developed other lightweight solutions with the use of steel rather than concrete for applications where weight is an issue and in combination with our knowledge and expertise working with GRP and epoxy resins.
Our Fab-Steel Brick-Lite lintel has been well received for both structural elements and also for continuous runs of exposed soffits in 'hung' applications where the designer wishes to create the appearance of unsupported floating brickwork fixed to the under side of a shelf angle
Our traditional solution to forming Prefabricated brick features using either a bonded Prefabricated method or a keyed Precast process.
Moulds and casting is all done in-house to control quality and speed of production and can be backed by Structural Engineers Calculations for the reinforcement proposed.
A modern variation using stainless steel lintels with special carrier design to enable bricks to be bonded and keyed to perforated stainless steel.
This method is particularly popular on longer span items where the concrete option becomes heavier and more complex to design.
Please forward your specific project details and we will advise on which method best suits the design and project requirements.
